Israel Celebrates Olympic Triumphs with Gold and Silver in Windsurfing, Silver in Gymnastics

Israel’s Olympic team achieved a historic milestone on Saturday, winning three medals in a single day at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Windsurfer Tom Reuveny secured a sensational gold in the men’s iQFoil final, while Sharon Kantor earned a silver in the women’s event. Artistic gymnast Artem Dolgopyat added to the country’s tally with a silver medal in the men’s floor exercise, marking Israel’s first time winning three Olympic medals in one day.

Reuveny’s unexpected victory, Israel’s fourth-ever Olympic gold, was a highlight of the day. It came 20 years after his coach, Gal Fridman, won Israel’s first gold at the Athens Olympics. Kantor, the first Israeli woman to medal in windsurfing, and Dolgopyat, who previously won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, rounded out the day’s achievements.

President Isaac Herzog congratulated the athletes, lauding their accomplishments during a challenging time for the nation. Israel’s total medal count for the Paris Games now stands at six, surpassing its previous record set at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
