Large-Scale Houthi Assault on US Destroyers Thwarted by Navy Defenses
The Pentagon reported Tuesday that Yemen’s Houthi forces launched a large-scale assault on two US destroyers in the Red Sea, deploying at least eight drones, five anti-ship ballistic missiles, and three cruise missiles.
Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder confirmed during a press briefing that all incoming threats were intercepted and destroyed on Monday, with no damage to either the USS Stockdale or the USS Spruance or injuries to personnel.

The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.
Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV and the group’s spokesperson, Yahya al-Sarea, also claimed the Houthis had targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in a series of attacks. However, Ryder refuted these claims, stating that he was “not aware of any attacks” on the carrier and affirmed the safety of all US assets in the area.
Tuesday’s assault came just days after US airstrikes targeted Houthi advanced conventional weapons storage sites in Yemen, with Ryder emphasizing that the US would continue holding the Houthis accountable for their “illegal and reckless” actions.
The Biden Administration re-designated the Houthis as a terrorist organization in 2022, after initially removing them on account of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. The group has launched hundreds of attacks on vessels across the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Indian Ocean to protest Israel’s war in Gaza.
The foreign intelligence division of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard funds, trains, and arms the Houthis, along with Hamas, Hezbollah, and pro-Iran Shiite militias in Iraq.
