The elusive leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, remains a figure shrouded in secrecy, with only a select few individuals privy to his exact location, reports the Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat. According to Hamas officials, these confidants manage Sinwar’s basic needs and ensure his communication with the group’s leadership in Qatar. These discussions have recently focused on negotiations concerning hostages.

Sinwar has been kept regularly informed about the progression of the conflict in Gaza despite his concealment. Reports from the region confirm that although several Hamas leaders have been injured by targeted Israeli strikes, Sinwar has notably avoided harm.

A recent video released by the Israel Defense Forces on February 13, 2024, purported to show Sinwar navigating through tunnels under Khan Yunis, revealing his continued presence in the area. This footage, captured by Hamas-operated cameras on October 10, highlights the ongoing cat-and-mouse game between Sinwar and Israeli forces.
