Hennis-Plasschaert, in turn, expressed appreciation for the government’s resolution to prioritize the needs of the Iraqi people.
Earlier Monday, the Independent High Electoral Commission announced that registration for alliances and parties interested in participating in the provincial council elections would run from July 1 to July 30.
Set for November 6, these elections will cover 15 out of 18 provinces, excluding those of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region. The last provincial elections were held in April 2013, with subsequent elections repeatedly delayed due to political disagreements.
