Documenting Mushroom Hunting in Palestine
In some Palestinian villages, the mushroom season is as important and popular as the olive season. This workshop takes participants on two guided mushroom hunting trips in the hills surrounding Birzeit (Ein Qinya, Kobar), during which they will film and document the different species they encounter as well as the tricks and tools employed in collecting mushrooms. They will then create five short videos inspired by their experience. While not out foraging in the hills, participants will be guided by photographer/videographer Hareth Yousef through the filming and editing processes. In groups of three, they will learn types of camera shots, create storyboards, and select and edit their footage.
