Learn asylum law and procedure, cultural competency, and the practical aspects of an asylum case for Afghan families settling in Nevada.

About this event

Nevada-licensed or emeritus-certified attorneys can earn 3.0 general Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits from this free, online webinar.

In the wake of the Afghanistan evacuation in August 2021, over 100 Afghan families will be settling into life in Nevada and in need of representation for their asylum cases. This training will give pro bono attorneys the necessary tools to represent the evacuees in their cases, covering asylum law and procedure, cultural competency, and the practical aspects of an asylum case. After the training, pro bono attorneys will have access to sample pleadings, a mentor, and additional trainings as they work through the case(s).

The webinar will be over RingCentral and presented by Ebru Cetin (Immigration Attorney at Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada) and Michael Kagan (Director of the UNLV Immigration Clinic). All attorneys must take one new pro bono immigration case to receive CLE credit. Select a case at www.lacsnprobono.org.

For information about other upcoming CLEs offered by Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, please visit www.lacsn.org/cle.
