Arab Foreign Ministers Urge Action on US Plan for Gaza Cease-fire

The foreign ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have emphasized the need to take the US President’s proposal seriously to ensure a lasting cease-fire and sufficient aid delivery to Gaza. The ministers issued a joint statement after a virtual meeting on Monday, outlining their discussions on ongoing mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States aimed at achieving a permanent cease-fire, releasing hostages and detainees, and ensuring aid reaches Gaza.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the foreign ministers of Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia expressed their support for these mediation efforts. They also stressed the urgency of halting aggression against Gaza, addressing the resulting humanitarian crisis, enabling displaced persons to return home, and ensuring the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

The ministers reiterated that the two-state solution is the only path to lasting peace and security in the region. They called for the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, with clear timelines and binding guarantees to achieve this goal.
