Egypt Seeks Arab Support for Gaza Rebuilding Ahead of Riyadh Summit
Egypt is leading efforts to secure international funding and diplomatic backing for the reconstruction of Gaza while firmly opposing proposals for Palestinian displacement. As Giorgia Valente reports, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has been engaging in high-level talks with regional and global figures to coordinate humanitarian aid, push for a sustainable ceasefire, and outline a long-term rebuilding strategy.
A key component of Egypt’s plan is a $27 billion reconstruction proposal from Egyptian real estate conglomerate Talaat Moustafa Holding Group. CEO Hisham Talaat Moustafa explained that the initiative aims to build 200,000 housing units and restore infrastructure, with funding sought from Arab and European nations. “The international community is capable of resolving the crisis in the Gaza Strip through reconstruction and development,” Moustafa stated.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

Egypt has positioned itself as the primary mediator in post-war Gaza, arguing that political stability must accompany reconstruction. El-Sisi recently reiterated this stance in talks with World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder and Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah. Meanwhile, Egypt is working with Saudi Arabia to advocate for the Palestinian Authority to govern Gaza, reducing Hamas’ role.
As the upcoming Arab summit in Riyadh approaches, Egypt is expected to lead discussions on securing financial commitments and preventing Palestinian displacement. Valente reports that Egyptian officials are stressing the need for a governance framework that ensures long-term stability. While political leaders negotiate, many Palestinians remain determined to stay in their homeland despite the hardships.
